One of its Established\nchurches was erected in 1875, at a cost\nof about 6000, and contains about 900\nsittings. One of the public schools was\nerected in 1876, at a cost of about 8000,\nand has accommodation for about 800\nscholars. The burgh unites with Hamil-\nton, Lanark, Falkirk, and Linlithgow in\nsending a member to Parliament. Pop.\n13,363.",
