Factories and other\nindustrial establishments are numerous.\nThere are many fine modern residences,\nseveral old mansions, and the ruined castles\nof Crookston and Stanley. The parochial\nchurch is part of the Abbey, to be noticed\nin our account of Paisley; and other\nchurches are in Paisley, Barrhead, John-\nstone, and Elderslie. 10 schools, for\n2338 scholars, are in the parts outside of\nPaisley burgh, and 2 of them and en-\nlargements for 1098 are new.",
