The\nparish contains also the post office village\nof Bankfoot, the villages of Cairniehill\nand \"Waterloo, and most of the post office\nvillage of Stanley. Its length is 10 miles ;\nits mean breadth is about 3 miles ; and\nits area is 12,941 acres. Real property in\n1880-81, 15,048. Pop. 2195. The surface\nrises from the Tay, up Strathardie, to the\nsummit of a low range of the Grampians,\nand consists chiefly of swelling knolls and\nsloping ridges. The seats are Stanley\nHouse, Airleywight, and Tullybelton. The\npoet Nicol was a native, and sang the\nbeauties of the landscape in his ' Bonnie\nOrdie Braes.' The churches are the\nparochial, with nearly 1200 sittings, 2\nFree, and a United Presbyterian. There are\n2 public schools for 550 scholars, and 1 of\nthem and an enlargement for 450 are new.",
